Shiddat: Journey Beyond Love Movie Review: Disney+Hotstar

Shiddat: Journey Beyond Love is a romance drama film produced by banners T-Series and Maddock Films.

Love stories are not new in Bollywood but Shiddat starring Sunny Kaushal and Radhika Madan in lead roles and Mohit Raina with Diana Penty in supporting cast is a new age love story.

The movie shows how the love angle and chemistry between the characters played by Mohit Raina and Diana Penty acted as a core element in Jaggi and Kartika’s love relationship played by Sunny and Radhika respectively.

The love story revolves around two sportspersons meeting each other. And excessively growing crazy and passionate about each other within the short span they get. Such heat and addictive attraction drive Jaggi to take extreme and impulsive decisions to get his girl.

As the title says, “Journey Beyond Love”, it shows Jaggi going all the way taking leaps and bounds to get the girl he loves. And in the way, he lands into some really serious troubles. He goes all the way to London without a passport, through illegal ways just to get his girl before she gets married.

Director Kunal Deshmukh has put enough effort to wrap the sequences of the storyline but the story has escalated too fast in no time. The pace with which the characters get along and the storyline moves don’t allow them to live within the viewers.

The movie has some scenes shot underwater in ways that haven’t been attempted before in Bollywood. And that’s a commendable job by the cinematographer, Amalendu Chaudhary.

Diana Penty isn’t seen much on the screens but even with her small screen space, she does take a hold of her viewers.

The film doesn’t lack comic timings. It really is a journey of stupidity, fun, madness as it is a journey of love and romance. But at times, the movie escalates so fast that it feels the soul is left behind. Overall, it’s a good one-time fun watch.

Note: To all the music lovers out there, the music chart of Shiddat is a hook and highly appreciable. Music directors Sachin-Jigar, Manan Bharadwaj & Gourov Dasgupta have done a splendid job. An appreciable remake of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 1993 song “Akhiyan Udeek Diyan” is done in a modern version.

You can catch the movie currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
