After the blockbuster season, one of giving justice to a tagged criminal who never really committed the crime. Disney+ Hotstar under the directorship of Rohan Sippy and Arjun Mukherjee has come up with it’s the second season, which is a spin-off with the charming Madhav Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi) and Nikhatt (Anupriya Goenka) with Anu Chandra (Kirti Kulhari) jailed in the case of stabbing her loving and loyal husband Bikram (Jisshu Sengupta), who is also a well-reputed lawyer. But what could be the patent reason behind it? Is she a criminal or somewhere a victim?

“Criminal Justice: behind closed doors”, throws light in the dimmed lanes of almost every Indian households stories that were left unheard. There a scene where the defence lawyer says that thankfully in India, marital rape is not a crime and so they have the judgement in their hands. And that is where the whole story sums up. Well, you must be wondering that even after the trailer has already crushed your anticipation by putting out the reasons behind Anu’s heinous act, then why should you watch it. Then, lemme say you, that the series has a lot more to feel, to judge, to endure, to comprehend and to react in your heart.

The series has already provided you the answers, but the way it ironically unfolds the questions brewing in your mind is worth enough to binge. Madhav Mishra’s trust on Anu and he, putting all his efforts to know the story hidden behind would make you feel the numbness. Kirti Kulhari has totally put the character of Anu down her nerves and her journey through the judicial custody, her pain she endures during her pregnancy and from corrupted results is what that brings in life to the sky-high imagination of the initiators. Nikhatt’s comeback is stronger than your expectations, and she fights against it not because she was a woman, but a human atlast.

The series turns everything topsy-turvy as it plays with the demon in you, to destroy it.

‘Most of the women you find here were treated worse than animals by their husbands, but they still consider a husband’s murder to be the biggest sin.’ The series questions your conscience that what is more wrong- a criminal outside or an innocent behind bars. Take a ride, binge it and you will live through every episode and details even though it takes you slowly.
